Stillman's McGuire Named Pre-Season All-American

TUSCALOOSA, AL--- Stillman College junior defensive lineman Irving McGuire, a
5'10, 270 lbs. native of Huntsville, AL, has been named to the 2005 pre-season All-American team. staff members chose
the pre-season All-Americans. Through the selection process many players across
the country were considered on the basis of statistics as well as past and
projected accomplishments.

McGuire's outstanding 2004 season, during which he led the Tigers with 76
tackles and recorded six sacks, earned him a second team nod. Last season he
recorded team game highs in tackles and sacks on three occasions. Against Miles
in the fourth annual Steel City Classic (Sept. 26, 2004) McGuire led Stillman
with 14 tackles, helping the Tigers beat the Golden Bears 17-14. In a 37-17 loss
to Kentucky State (Sept. 18) he recorded a team high two sacks and had a repeat
two sack performance in a 24-14 win over Lincoln University (MO) three weeks
later. Over his two seasons at Stillman McGuire has played in 20 games and has
recorded 153 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, two pass deflections, two forced
fumbles, three fumble recoveries and 8.5 quarterback sacks.

In addition to being named a pre-season All-American, McGuire
also made the pre-season SIAC All-Conference Second Team Defense. Robert Durham
(SR, DB, 6'0, 186) from Tuskegee University and Rashod Moulton (JR, 5'11, 190)
were the only other SIAC members to receive All-American honors. Durham was
named second team defense and Moulton made second team as a return specialist.

Stillman will open the 2005 season against the Tuskegee University Golden Tigers
on Saturday, Aug. 27. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
