RAINS CANCELS HAWKS AND BRONCS
G. STAN BRADLEY 02/21/09

UMES and Rider will not play game three of the series.

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -The rain, snow and dreary conditions forced the University of
Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) to cancel game three of their series with the Rider
University Broncs today, scheduled for a noon start at Hawks Field.

The game time was originally pushed back to 12:30 p.m. but the rain increased and by
1:30 p.m. snow had moved in and the radar showed continued precipitation for another
hour or more. With Rider needing to return home to New Jersey and the feat of darkness,
the decision was made to cancel to game.

The game has not been rescheduled and the two teams will most likely not make-up the
contest.

Rider took both ends of a doubleheader yesterday with 17-2 and 11-7 wins. The final
game, scheduled for seven innings, was called after six innings for darkness.

The Hawks next take on Lehigh on Wednesday at Hawks Stadium in doubleheader action
with a nine inning game scheduled for noon and a seven inning affair scheduled to start
25 minutes after, at approximately 3:00 p.m.

Rider returns home and then takes on East Tennessee State on the road next weekend,
February 27-March 1, 2009.
