NCCU BASEBALL USES LONG BALL TO SWEEP ST. PAUL'S

     DURHAM, NC – North Carolina Central University collected nine extra-base hits, including four home runs, during a convincing doubleheader sweep (13-1, 17-0) of Saint Paul's College on Monday (March 26) inside the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. 
     NCCU junior Robert Landis (Winston-Salem, N.C.) and sophomore Oliver Jenkins (Rocky Mount, N.C.) belted two run runs each during the twin bill. Landis knocked both of his homers out of the park in the first contest, going 3-for-3 at the plate with three runs batted in and three runs scored during the Eagles 13-1 victory. Jenkins hit a solo shot in the first contest, then blasted a grand slam to the opposite field in game two, powering NCCU to a 17-0 win. 
     NCCU junior pitcher Mike Cornwell (Charlotte, N.C.) struck out six Tigers and allowed only three hits in the game one victory, while freshman Justin Goodson (Atlanta, Ga.) tossed a two-hit shutout with six strikeouts in the game two win. 
     NCCU returns to action Tuesday (March 27) when the Eagles host Saint Augustine's College for a doubleheader at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park beginning at 1 p.m.
