 HAMPTON, VA – North Carolina Central University freshman shortstop Justin
Goodson was selected as the CIAA Baseball Player of the Week, freshman pitcher
Alex Weathersby was selected as the CIAA Pitcher of the Week and head coach
Henry White as CIAA Coach of the Week, the CIAA announced on Wednesday.
          In four games during the week of March 26- April 2, Goodson (Atlanta,
GA) hit for a .455 batting average, going 10-for-22 at the plate with a double,
a triple, two home runs, 12 runs scored and 14 runs batted in. Against Morris
College on Mar. 30, Goodson hit a home run, scored three times, stole three
bases and drove in six runners.
     Weathersby, a native of Raleigh, NC, pitched 11 innings without an earned
run and posted a 2-0 record to become the CIAA Pitcher of the Week. Weathersby
struck-out seven batters and allowed the opposition to hit just .195 against
him.
  White, who was named the CIAA Coach of the Week for the second straight week,
led NCCU to a 6-1 record between Mar. 26 and Apr. 2. Under the tutelage of
White, NCCU is in first place in the CIAA with a 10-2 conference record.
