Delta Devils Suffer Loss in Season Opener

Boca Raton, Fla. --- The Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils’
baseball team opened the 2007 season on a sour note as they suffered
an 8-1 loss to the Florida Atlantic Owls. 

The Delta Devils lone run offered their only lead of the game as
senior leftfielder Ross Myers reached base on a single up the middle
in the third inning.  Myers would later score on a single into
leftfield by senior shortstop Kyle Latiolais.

On the mound for the Delta Devils Scott Reid recorded the loss in four
and a third innings of work.  Reid gave up five earned runs on eight
hits while recording five strikeouts.

For the Owls, W. Story picked up the win giving up no earned runs in
five innings of work, while striking out eight.
