MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY BASEBALL HONORS
Delaware State’s Allen and Norfolk
State’s Serrano Earn Co-Player of the
Week honors

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.
– Delaware State University outfielder
Eric Allen and Norfolk State University
third baseman Juan Serrano earned
Co-MEAC Player of the Week honors in
baseball, the league announced on
Monday. Allen’s teammate JR McAllister
earned Pitcher of the Week accolades.
Allen (OF, 5-11, Jr., Georgetown, IN)
led the Hornets to a 3-1 week, including
a three-game sweep of conference foe
Maryland Eastern Shore. Allen recorded
two doubles, a triple and a home run and
tallied six RBIs in 12 appearances at
the plate. He also stole three bases
and walked four times.
Defensively, he added eight putouts and
one assist for Delaware State.
Serrano (3B, 5-10, Sr., Naugatuck,
Conn.)
recorded a .500 batting average; posted
a double and eight RBI’s to lead Norfolk
State to a three-game sweep of Coppin
State. Serrano tallied two home runs
against the Eagles, which were his
second and third of the season.
McAllister (P, 6-0, Jr., Orlando, Fla.)
pitched a shutout against Maryland
Eastern Shore to improve to 5-2 on the
season. McAllister struck out eight of
the 27 batters he faced, while allowing
only one hit and one walk in eight
innings.
Other Top Performers
Dustin Blackwell (BCU)
struck out eight batters during 8.2
innings of play to help the Wildcats to
a 3-2 victory over Oral Roberts. The win
snapped a 23-game home winning streak
for the Golden Eagles.
Leon Schabacker (NSU)
recorded the Spartans’ first shutout of
the season and the first of his career
in a win over Coppin State.
