Close out Regular Season Tomorrow Versus
Saint Augustine’s

CITY, NC- The Elizabeth City State
University Vikings captured their season
sweep with Saint Paul’s College Monday
afternoon with 18-3 and 16-2 victories.
The Vikings
(18-11, CIAA 12-6) will close out the
regular season tomorrow against Saint
Augustine’s College at 1:00pm.
In game one
the Vikings used an 11-run third inning to
break the contest open en route to an 18-3
win. In the victory freshman pitcher Joel
Brown, who struck out six batters, improved
to 2-0 as a starter. Offensively the Vikings
were paced by Meshaw Taylor who went 4-for-4
with 5 RBI and two runs scored. Freshman
Stephen Greene contributed his third home
run of the year which began the scoring tear
in the 3rd inning.
Game two saw
Nick Johnson dial from long distance in for
the third time in the past four games in the
Vikings’ 16-2 win. The Tigers (1-18, CIAA
0-16) went up 2-0 early in the first inning
but saw their lead evaporate as ECSU
responded with three runs in their half of
the inning. The Vikings held the outmanned
Tigers scoreless while tacking on 7 and 6
runs in the 3rd and 4th
innings respectively to put the game out of
reach. In his first appearance of the season
as the starting pitcher, freshman Troy
Andrews struck out four throwing a complete
game from the mound.
The Vikings
will close out the regular season on
Tuesday, April 10 as they host Saint
Augustine’s College. Game time is scheduled
for 1:00pm at Knobbs Creek.
