PLACES SIX ON ALL-CIAA, ALL-ROOKIE TEAMS

for Start of CIAA Baseball Tournament

HAMPTON, VA-
Six member of the Elizabeth City State
University baseball team have been named to
the All-CIAA and All-Rookie Team as voted by
the CIAA Baseball Coaches Association.
First
baseman Nick Johnson, short stop Meshaw
Taylor and outfielder J.J. House were all
named to the 2007 All-CIAA Team while
freshmen William Stallings, Troy Andrews and
Jacob Harrell were tapped for the All-Rookie
Team.
Johnson is
the Vikings lone repeat All-Conference
performer and this year the Greensboro, NC
native is tied at first in the CIAA in home
runs and tops the league in chances and
putouts. Taylor ranks fourth in total
bases, third in hits, fourth in RBI, first
in doubles and is tied for first in assists.
In his first year with the Vikings, J.J.
House proved to be a valuable addition as he
is fourth overall in hits, third in runs
scored, second in RBI, third in triples and
third in total bases.
As for the
rookie selections Bronx, NY native Troy
Andrews leads the team in batting average at
.444. As the Vikings’ starting second
baseman William Stallings amassed a field
percentage of .952 while totaling 48 putouts
and 32 assists. Jacob Harrell finished third
on the team in both chances (110) and
putouts (79).
The Vikings
(19-12, CIAA 13-7) will begin play in the
2007 CIAA Baseball Tournament on Thursday,
April 19, 2007 on the campus of Virginia
State University.
