BETHUNE-COOKMAN NOTES

After a tough loss on Tuesday night to the

Mighty Gators of the University of Florida, the

Wildcats still have wind in their sails as they

feel like the tide is about to turn in Daytona

Beach. Once again, the team was at the door

knocking, but were denied the invitation to

victory ... falling to 0-20 lifetime to the Gators.

But now they head to the midwest looking for a

shot at another “upset” against a hot Oral

Roberts squad.

Bethune-Cookman has the powerful “Jack

Hammer” lineup in full force, but it may be the

pitching efforts of Joseph “Gio” Gautier and

Hiram Burgos that has the ‘Cats smiling more

and more each day. Burgos and Gautier have

come storming on as sophomores this year, and

both are making their claim for the weekend

rotation’s final spot. Gautier has it for now, but

Burgos is continuing to impress the ‘Cats

coaching staff on Tuesdays and Wednesdays

this year.

This is the second time in as many years the

Wildcats will be traveling to Tulsa to face-off

against the Golden Eagles. The ‘Cats had a

great showing last year against the Mid-

Continent champs, and look for another good

showing against a well-respected program like

ORU once again

ORAL ROBERTS NOTES

Oral Roberts comes into this weekend’s series

having just defeated SEC power Arkansas, as

well as recently sweeping Penn State out of the

Big Ten. The Golden Eagles are using the stick

of Chad Rothford (six homeruns) and Jake

Kahaulelio (14 RBI) to carry them to victory.

The Golden Eagles are very good on defense,

and have committed just 23 errors and bat .240

as a team.

The Golden Eagles have five guys batting over

.250 on the year, as well as three player swith 3+

homeruns, including Carter McQuigg with a

surprising .197 average that fools pitchers ...

but his bat certainly doesn’t as he has a team

second-best tying mark of 14 RBI as well.
