Baseball vs. Prairie View Date: Sunday, March 31, 2002 Jason Jenkins TSU Baseball Wins Fourth Straight Against Prairie View Houston, TX-Texas Southern University baseball won its fourth straight game of the season with a 13-4, 3-1, sweep of SWAC rival Prairie View, Saturday, March 30, in Prairie View, Texas. In game one, pitcher Jason Thornhill hurled seven strikeouts and gave up three earned runs in the complete game victory. Outfielder Damon Burns went 3-5 with six RBI's. Outfielder Aulston Taylor added a home run for the Tigers (16-16, 14-6 SWAC) who exploded for 10 runs in the first three innings. The second game was called in the bottom of the sixth inning due to severe thunderstorms in the area. Catcher David Bell added a home run and two RBI's. Marcus Winder pitched 5 1/3 innings for the win. He added four strikeouts and gave up no earned runs. TSU returns to action, Thursday, April 4 against Northwestern State at MacGregor Park in Houston, Texas. -30- |
