Wolverines Baseball overpowered by Mercer in season opener.

(Macon, GA)-The Bears of Mercer University out scored Morris Brown 33-5, at Claude Smith Field for a double-header sweep, to open the 2002 season.

Game one saw three Wolverines pitchers surrendered 13 earned runs in the 15-3 loss. Freshman starter Jeremiah Fielder would pitch 3 innings surrendering one earned run on four hits. Freshman Lamont Simpson Jr. base hit to right field in the 6th inning sparked MBC only scoring threat in the game as they put together three straight hits in the inning to score three runs.

Mercer would answer MBC's two second with nine in the bottom of the frame as they went on to score 18 runs on three Wolverine pitchers. Anthony Austin's bases loaded double would account for MBC two runs.

The Wolverines are in action against on Thursday in the McKinney / FMC 3rd Annual HBCU Tournament.
