The national publication selected Campbell to its 2002 preseason All-Southwestern Athletic Conference team. Campbell, a senior from Bastrop, La., was the only Tiger picked to the magazine's preseason team and batted .316 last year while leading Grambling in doubles (11), home runs (10) and RBIs (46). "I was glad to see (Alberto) hit that ball out the way he did," GSU coach Wilbert Ellis said of Campbell's performance in a doubleheader sweep of Texas College Wednesday. "That's the big reason he gets the attention he does. It's what he does with the bat."
