GSU BASEBALL PREGAME

GRAMBLING -- Grambling State looks to build some late season momentum as the Tigers play host to Jackson State today.
The teams will play a single game beginning at noon at the Ruston High School baseball field.
GSU stands at 18-19 overall and 11-13 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference West Division and is facing a non-divisional game against Jackson State before closing out the season with a four-game home series against Southern and a four-game road series at Texas Southern.
The Tigers are coming off a doubleheader loss at Prairie View last Saturday and GSU coach Wilbert Ellis is hoping his team can shake off that disappointment with a big game against JSU (16-14, 12-6).
"We need to finish strong and we need to start it against Jackson State," Ellis said. "We're fighting to finish in the top three of the division and make the conference tournament."
GSU is battling Arkansas-Pine Bluff (13-13) for third place in the SWAC West behind Southern and Texas Southern.
The Tigers took an 8-6 road win at Jackson State on April 3 as Grambling led off the tenth with a fly-out before Albert Campbell and Jacobi Frank followed with consecutive singles and Ryan Haskell doubled to score Campbell and put GSU up 7-6.
Grambling State added an extra run on a Eldred Hunter sacrifice fly to score Frank later in the inning.
Willie Harrison came in to pitch the final three outs for GSU and picked up the win in relief of Elias Rodriguez.
