Aggies Shut Out Tigers Twice

Greensboro, NC - Travis Scott, Joseph Locklear and David Nelson combined to pitch 14 scoreless innings, propelling N.C. A&T to a sweep of a doubleheader against Savannah State at Ted Leonard Field.

The Aggies (16-37) won game one, 5-0, as they scored once in the fourth and fifth innings and plated three in the sixth.

Jeffrey King and Quincy Jones each singled and scored twice, while Austin Love came off the bench to hit a two-run single to put the Aggies ahead 4-0 in the sixth. Six different Aggies recorded a hit against losing pitcher Shawn Griffin (4-4).

Scott (3-7) went the distance for the fifth time in 13 starts, allowing just five hits and striking out four.

In game two, Jason Battle broke a scoreless tie with an RBI single in the sixth inning. Adonis Smith, who had reached on a leadoff walk of loser Richard Castillo (12-5), advanced to second on a balk, then came around to score the game's lone run.

Locklear (5-7) stuck out eleven Tigers in 6.1 innings pitched, allowing just one hit, a bloop single to Charles Woods. Nelson relived Locklear in the bottom of the seventh with one out and stuck out T. J. Lonon and Luis Ramos with the tying run on second base, preserving a victory for the second time this season when they take on the Tigers at 1:00 P.M. at Ted Leonard Field for the final regular season match-up.
