MEAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament

NORFOLK, Va., February 16, 2015 -The 2015 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cheerleading Championship gets underway on Sunday, March 8 at Echols Hall on the campus of Norfolk State University (Va.). The Cheerleading Championship begins at 5:30 p.m. and will be streamed live on MEACsports.com.

Fans can purchase tickets at the NSU Ticket Center, Monday-Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased at (737) 823-9009 or online at www.nsuspartanstickets.universitytickets.com. Tickets are $8 for adults or $5 for children 12 and under.

The MEAC Cheerleading Championship features competitive squads from the conference’s member institutions showcasing their talents through jumps, partner stunts, pyramids, tosses, tumbling, and motion and dance routines. Along with the participating MEAC Institutions, area middle and high schools, as well as recreational cheerleading teams will be performing.

The annual Cheerleading Championship ignites the week of events surrounding the annual Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament. The 2015 MEAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament tips-off March 9-14 at the Norfolk Scope Arena.

Morgan State University captured its fourth straight championship in 2014 with Florida A&M University (2nd) and South Carolina State University (3rd) rounding out the top three overall team awards.

The MEAC Basketball Tournament is a single elimination championship playoff that involves Division I historically black colleges and universities located across the Atlantic coastline: Bethune-Cookman, Coppin State, Delaware State, Florida A&M, Hampton, Howard, Maryland Eastern Shore, Morgan State, Norfolk State, North Carolina A&T State, North Carolina Central, Savannah State, and South Carolina State.
